About Dental Veneers

Dental veneers are thin, tooth-colored porcelain shells that are applied to the front of teeth to hide minor dental flaws. Dental veneers can hide everything from small chips and cracks in teeth to discoloration to even minor gaps between teeth. If you are looking for a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that could give you a whiter, straighter smile, then it might be time to consider dental veneers.

Getting Dental Veneers

The first part of getting dental veneers requires a bit of tooth preparation before we can put on your veneers. This tooth preparation is minimal and only requires us to remove a small amount of enamel from your teeth (usually less than 1 millimeter of enamel is actually removed). This process, however, is painless and doesn’t require anesthesia.

Once your smile is ready for your veneers, we will select a set of veneers that give you realistic but radiant teeth that also match the rest of your smile. After all, the point of veneers is to give you a natural but healthy-looking smile. Once we find the veneers for you, we will temporarily apply them to your teeth to get your final approval before permanently adhering your veneers. Once you have approved your new smile we will apply special resin between your natural teeth and the veneers and then shine a laser over your teeth to harden the resin permanently to your teeth.

The Benefits of Dental Veneers

What makes dental veneers a great cosmetic treatment option is that it can improve the appearance of your smile with only minimal and painless preparation. Unlike with dental crowns, veneers only require us to remove a small amount of enamel, so the process is significantly faster and less invasive.

Furthermore, veneers are a great way to instantly whiten smiles that may have severe stains due to tobacco or long-term antibiotic use. Veneers are also ideal for someone who wants to correct minor crookedness without opting for years of braces. Plus, porcelain veneers are easy to care for, as they don’t require special treatment. You can treat your veneers just like regular teeth when it comes to brushing and flossing. Just maintain good oral hygiene and you’ll enjoy a healthy smile for years to come.
